Some sage advice for authors who are a little too familiar with their contacts in the publishing world, or are a little hot under the collar when they don’t hear what they want to hear.

Beyond this article, there is also the personal impression.  Have you ever gone to an author talk where they’ve dressed up eccentrically, or look like a hobo?  Imagine if you went to a networking event or a pitch-party, and you were memorable not for your tantalising plot, but for your halitosis!

There are many ways to make a first impression, not just with the words on the page.
